Consume - Consuming Youth

PHOTOGRAPHS / 2006

We are all the victims/products of advertising. Admit it or not; like it or not.

This series of large-scale conceptual photographs (of sculptures devoid of detail and then rendered flat by photographing them) deals with how children are impacted by current consumer trends. They are headless, (brainless?) but still with arms for grabbing, seeking, gathering, clutching, amassing.

Are they consuming, or are they the consumed?

Here are images of the installation at CoCA (Center on Contemporary Art) in Seattle. www.cocaseattle.org
